Shell shear reinforcement

Use the Shell shear reinforcement tool to manually draw shear link regions on concrete shell elements.
You define the region geometry and set spacing values directly in the tool palette, giving you full control over where and how shear reinforcement is applied.

Tool palette

Manual design opens a tool palette where you define how shear reinforcement is created and applied.

Shear reinforcement tool palette

Main tools

  • Define – draw a new shear reinforcement region using the active region definition method.

  • Properties – inspect or edit the properties of an existing shear reinforcement region. Opens the Default settings dialogue for the selected region.

  • Default settings – set the default values used when placing new shear reinforcement regions (read below in more detail).

Region definition methods

Available when Define is selected.

  • Rectangular – define a rectangular reinforcement region.

  • Circular – define a circular reinforcement region.

  • Polygonal – define a polygon-shaped reinforcement region.

  • Pick lines – define the region by selecting existing lines.

  • Pick existing region – reuse an already defined region.

Additional settings

  • Diameter – select the shear link diameter from a dropdown list, with Edit library support.

  • Space, x' – select or enter the shear link spacing in the local x' direction. A dropdown provides standard values; you can also type a custom numeric value directly.

  • Space, y' – select or enter the shear link spacing in the local y' direction. A dropdown provides standard values; you can also type a custom numeric value directly.

  • Applied area – read-only field showing the resulting reinforcement area for the current settings.

Default settings

When you open Default settings, a dialogue opens where you set the default values for all new shear reinforcement regions.

Default settings dialogue

  • Quality – select the reinforcement steel quality from a dropdown list.

  • Diameter – select the default shear link diameter from a dropdown list, with Edit library support.

  • Space, x' – set the default shear link spacing in the local x' direction.

  • Space, y' – set the default shear link spacing in the local y' direction.

  • Applied area – read-only field showing the resulting reinforcement area for the current default settings.

  • Colour – open the colour palette to set the display colour for shear reinforcement regions.
