Display options for design results

FEM-Design uses the same graphical display modes for design results as for analysis results. The available display depends on the selected result type, but all result visualisations follow the same common logic already described for analysis results.

The display behaviour and appearance are primarily controlled through the Display options tool for each result type, accessed from the panel Manage results on the relevant design tab.

For most result displays you can add numeric values or animate the result with tools on the panel Manage results or quickly change the scale, text size or digit amount with tools on the panel Quick change.

Main result display types

Most design results are shown using one of the following general display types:

  • Colour palette – results are visualised as coloured fields mapped to numeric values
  • Graph – results are displayed as diagrams along bars, sections or paths
  • Contour lines – results are shown as isolines representing equal values
  • Sections – results are evaluated and displayed along user-defined section lines

These display types are used for the majority of design result categories such as utilizations, design forces and reinforcement.

Special result displays

Some design result types use dedicated graphical representations that are not explicitly named as display types.

These representations are fixed for their respective result types and cannot be switched to another display mode.

Typical examples include:

  • point-type results, such as isolated foundation or steel joint utilization, shown with a symbol whose size can be adjusted
  • reinforcement area results, shown as numeric values marked on each finite element in both directions at the same time

Although these result types use specialised visualisations, they still rely on the same Display options framework for controlling scale, colours, visibility and numeric values.
