Point support group


Use the Point support group tool to create and manage named collections of point supports, letting you activate, hide or change parameters for several nodal restraints in one step.

When you select Point support group, a tool palette opens.

Main tools
  • Define - place a new point support group with the current functions and definition method
  • Properties - check or edit properties of existing groups. Opens the Default settings dialogue for the selected elements
  • Default settings - set the default parameters for new point support groups (read below in more detail)
Direction functions

Only available while Define tool is selected

  • Predefined direction - align the support along a predefined axis
  • Direction - only when Predefined direction is active; choose Global (X Y Z) or UCS (x y z)
  • Local system - inherit the local axis system of the selected line or edge
Definition methods
  • Insertion point - click a single node (or empty space to create one) and assign the support group
  • Select end points - pick end points of elements; supports are applied to every selected node


Default settings

When you press the Default settings button, a dialogue window opens.

This dialogue contains two tabs: General and Data. These follow the settings used in all support elements and edge connections.
