Endpoint behaviour
The end points of any edge connection in FEM-Design can be detached from the model to avoid singularities and peaks in the corners. The Endpoint behaviour dialogue provides options for this. Following tools use this dialogue:
- Simple retaining wall
- Foundation slab
- Plane plate, Profiled plate, Timber plate
- Plane wall, Profiled wall, Timber wall
- Fictitious shell
When you press the Endpoint behavior tool on the relevant palette, a new dialogue window opens.
This dialogue controls how the endpoints of edge connections behave in relation to the surrounding elements. You can choose between two options:
- Connect end point to environment - links the edge connection's selected end point to nearby geometry or boundaries. This is the default behaviour.
- Separate end point from environment - detaches the edge connection's selected end point, so it behaves independently from adjacent elements
info
Only the selected endpoint finite element node will be connected or separated. The adjacent nodes will stay connected and cannot be separated with this tool, use Edge connection for those adjacent nodes.
