Peak smoothing

Peak smoothing panel

The panel Peak smoothing contains only the Peak smoothing tool.

Peak smoothing panel

Peak smoothing panel also has the interactive clickable panel name that will will take you to the relevant settings in the Settings menu.

Peak smoothing tool

Use the Peak smoothing tool to add and modify peak smoothing regions on shell elements. Peak smoothing uses mathematical functions to spread peak values in internal forces to nearby areas.

Peak smoothing tool

When you select the Peak smoothing tool a new tool palette opens.

Tools on the palette
Define toolUse Define tool to define a new peak smoothing region in the model view.
Properties toolUse Properties tool to check properties of existing peak smoothing regions. This will open the Default settings dialogue for the selected peak smoothing area.
Rectangular toolOnly while Define tool is selected, use Rectangular function to define a rectangular region by two opposing corner points.
Circular toolOnly while Define tool is selected, use Circular function to define a circular region by center point and radius.
Polygonal toolOnly while Define tool is selected, use Polygonal function to define the polygonal region with multiple consecutive points.
Pick lines toolOnly while Define tool is selected, use Pick lines function to define the edge of region by using any existing closed shape that is made of lines, edges, axis or Region (also structural elements like walls or plates).
Pick existing region toolOnly while Define tool is selected, use Pick existing region function to define region by selecting an existing region.
Active smoothing region toolUse Active smoothing region tool to make the new region active after defining it.
Inactive smoothing region toolUse Inactive smoothing region tool to make the new region inactive after defining it.
Default settingsUse Default settings tool to change some settings (read below in more detail).

Default settings

The Default settings tool opens a new dialogue window.

Inactive smoothing region toolUse Inactive smoothing region tool to make the selected region inactive.
info

Active regions change the internal force distribution by the selected mathematical function. Inactive regions do not change any force distribution. The inactive regions are good for alternative calculations.
