Rotational displacements
The Rotational displacements analysis result shows the rotational movement, or turning, of finite element nodes under the current loading or analysis conditions. It represents how each finite element of the structure rotates around its local axes as a response to applied loads, imposed actions or dynamic effects.
Rotational displacements are available for static, stability and dynamic analysis contexts.
- Load cases – nodal rotations from individual load cases
- Construction stages – rotational displacements during staged construction
- Imperfections – rotations including geometric or load imperfections
- Load combinations – rotational displacements from defined load combinations
- Stability analysis – rotations related to stability shapes
- Eigenfrequencies – modal rotational shapes
- Seismic analysis – rotational response from seismic loading
- Footfall analysis – vibration-induced rotations
- Moving load dynamic – dynamic rotational effects from moving loads
- Time history – ground acceleration – time-dependent rotations from ground motion
- Time history – excitation force – time-dependent rotations from applied forces
- Periodic excitation – steady-state dynamic rotational response
- Storey fundamental frequency – storey-based rotational shapes
Result selection
Depending on the selected analysis context, additional selections are required to display Rotational displacements.
One or more of the following parameters may need to be selected from the result lists:
- load case type, such as ultimate or quasi-permanent
- load case or load combination
- construction stage
- stability shape
- vibration shape
- seismic shape
- moving load position
- moving load velocity
- time step, for time history results
- storey, for storey-based results
Only the selections relevant to the active analysis type are shown.
Result display
Rotational displacements are displayed using a Colour palette representation only.
