Periodic excitation

Use Periodic excitation to analyse the structural response under harmonic or periodically varying loads.

Periodic excitation setup

Calculation parameters
  • Δt – time step used in the calculation
  • t end – total duration of the periodic excitation analysis
Damping type

Choose the damping model used in the analysis:

  • Rayleigh – Rayleigh damping, defined by mass- and stiffness-proportional coefficients
  • Kelvin–Voigt – Kelvin–Voigt viscoelastic damping model
Rayleigh damping matrix
  • α – mass-proportional damping coefficient
  • β – stiffness-proportional damping coefficient
Damping factor
  • ξ – percentage damping used in the periodic excitation analysis
